The weeds have not made any allowances for the fact that I’ve just had a baby. One fellow plot holder actually complemented on how lush they were, asking what crop it was that I was growing!
This prompted me to start pulling them out and have so far cleared 2 beds ready for the leeks and brasicas. I can’t bear to look at the other 6 that also need clearing, but at least I managed to clear and cover some last year in order to grow:
Spuds: Valour & Sarpo Mira planted by HWDD while back- but I can’t remember the exact date (never mind- he calls it ‘Mum-neisia’)
Onions: Red Barron & white- can’t remember & can’t be bothered to go & unlock the shed to find out! (started in trays) Garlic: Red & white from Kings
A rainbow of soft fruit: Strawberries, Black & Red Currants, Blackberries, Blue berries and some promising flowers on the cranberries for the first time.
My mum & Dad visited today and we took a stroll over to the plot, picked some strawberries & rhubarb. The pram is a great help in carrying the produce home. (underneath- Baby Digger is not sharing with produce (yet!))

well done for getting out there at all, it's not easy. don't overdo it though, take care of the emergency escape hatch for a while yet. good on hwdd for getting the spuds in.

It looks like the allotment is definitely getting back on track. Why does every weed always grow so well? My mum piled pots and pans on top of me as a baby when we moved home, which happened to be just around the corner. I hope Baby Digger doesn't get squashed with all those squashes! I expect your mum and dad are loving having him around now. I really like the border you have developed, the plants look very naturally flowing. You must be really pleased with it. x
I'm pleased to see that the digger seedling is growing well and you are back posting on your blog.

Wow! Even with less time at hand, your garden looks great. I have the same time problem, but once we get it in the ground it has a good chance of producing!

Sleep ??? it was three years before I got any of that...
Never mind - there'll be plenty of time later to do everything. for the moment just enjoy Baby Digger, get as much sleep as you can, and do anything else you feel you have time/energy for. but without feeling that you "should".
As a completely unbiased blog reader who has no connection with SWD or HWDD, I think it is really important the SWD is really proud of both the allotment and garden. It is clear to see that a load of love and effort has gone into both.
I hope that she knows that is recognised by HWDD & BD, who though not always vocal about it do appreciate it.

Gosh those prams are useful. lol so funny about the weeds. Sure sign that you are feeding the soil. I think of it as growing weed fertiliser to be soaked until it stinks but is a great boost for the garden.
