Winter wonderland....

Happy New Year to everyone!

Snow is such a novelty in the south of England that everything grinds to a halt. Not that we minded and it was such fun while it lasted. Now that it has gone (except for the remains of giant snowmen) Little Digger (LD) couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him stand on the thawed water!

The broad beans, garlic, onions & parsnips have not come to any harm during the 'Big Freeze'

and I've managed to sort out the shed guttering, water butts, shelving and also a separate compost for perennial weeds.

It didn't stay this empty for long!

Underneath the snow in the garden, there are actually some plants beginning to flower....

Keep warm and all the best for 2010!

New shelving in a shed is always exciting, although there's never enough of it for all the things that need to go on them! Love the pic of Little Digger on the ice.

Great to hear from you again! I love reading your blog.
Little Digger is sooooo cute... did you already buy him his first baby spade? My little ones just love digging holes. I can easily spend 2 hours at the allotment without them getting bored.

You did really well with your shed - ours managed to spring a couple of little leaks over the snowy period - we think it was the weight of the snow pressing down on some nails that in turn pierced the roofing felt. Our broad beans survived well too, although I had an anxious couple of days when I found them all lying flat!

We put up a shed last year and it is a great place for entertaining neighbours on our plot to a warming cup of coffee.

The camellia is early isn't it - ours are in bud but don't flower til later.

Gosh - Little Digger's grown. I've been away for a while and I've missed him growing up. I'll be back from now on, and I hope you'll be posting frequently again once all this snow goes away ...
