Our Precious Seedling.....

Our precious seedling was ‘re-potted’ on Saturday 8th March at 2.11pm and weighed in at a respectable 7lb 2oz.

He arrived through the ‘emergency escape hatch’ so I won’t be planting my own spuds this year! We plan to introduce ‘Baby Digger’ to the allotment later on today.

huge congratulations, good weight, beautiful photograph (well he's beautiful rather than the photograph being beautiful (but i think you knew what i meant!)) welcome 'Baby Digger'

spuds can be left this year, unless you've got someone else who can do it for you.

the escape hatch is a perfectly acceptable route, lots of people need escape hatches - in fact my first 2 made their ways out via the escape hatch. do take it easy, so much harm can be done by doing too much too soon. hope you were told to avoid the hoovering for 3 months (i was and it almost made the whole escape hatch thing worth it for that alone!!).

take it easy when you make it down to the allotment (can't HWDD get the spuds in for you?)

best wishes
barbara

Congratulations. May he bring you great joy. When the work becomes overwhelming...ignore it and go play with your baby!!!

He is so beautiful, it almost makes me want another. And at my age, I ought to know better!

It looks like you have introduced Baby Digger to the allotment already, I did laugh with precious baby surrounded by these monsters of vegetables. I did think in your absence that Baby Digger was being introduced into this world. Congratulations to you both, I look forward to seeing baby's development as well as the vegetables! x

Congratulations! Looks quite at home with the veg there - which is probably just as well ;>)

Fortunately winter seems to be hanging on a bit so no rush to get things in the ground just yet.

Congratulations! Feed regularly, and keep out of direct sunlight. Slow growth rate - will take sixteen years or more to reach full height. No pruning required, but will need training to achieve a pleasing result. As a site I found on the internet said (Google training plants)"This is not difficult, but does require patience and a little know-how". As a mother, I would second this whole-heartedly. (Wait till he's a teenager!)

Have fun !

Will check in from time to time to compare notes :-)

Congratulations - My little one ( now five months old) used the escape hatch to.

Take it easy. I did no digging.driving or pushing the buggy for 6 weeks. If you start too early you can do alot of damage.

Get someone to do the spuds for you, especially due to the pain you must be in.

All the best

Loz

What a lovely post of your newborn. Another gardener in the family.

Just had a look at your blog, like it, and will be back.

Expect you will be away for a while, all those disturbed nights.

Sleep well.

Congratulations !! I haven't popped in for a long time so I have alot to catch up on !

He's a handsome devil and I'm sure he will love making mud pies down at the plot next year !!

Take it easy though, don;t try doing any heavy for ages yet remember to look after yourself - its very easy to forget when a baby relies on you for everything !!

I thought you were supposed to find them underneath the gooseberry bush! The stork brings them! Most fantastic photo for veggie gardeners. Later in the Summer I am planning to post "Matron's Trugblog" most of the other gardeners will just be filling theirs with veggies. Yours would make a wonderful addition!

The name of your blog drew me in, I sometimes think the reason I love gardening the most is because it's the only respectable way a 47 year old woman can dig in the dirt! Your little one is beautiful. I delivered all 3 of my sons the same way - ouch! But by that point, I was just glad there was an alternative route!
